Central Mall Mosaics

Decorative floor mosaics depicting nautical and oceanic themes were installed throughout Jones Beach. Some have been lost but many remain albeit in poor condition. The grouping of mosaics located at the Central Mall is the most extensive. It includes a grass panel frame and a large map of Long Island’s State park system flanked by a lobster and pair of sea horses.

The Central Mall Mosaics symbolize the spirit of Jones Beach and its premiere status among the State Parks on Long Island. The mosaics continue to deteriorate year by year as the Parks Department must dedicate their limited funds towards only the most pressing infrastructure needs. As the part of the physical heart of Jones Beach we hope to restore the Central Mall Mosaics to their former glory.

Fundraising Goal: $250,000

$25, 000 – Feasibility Study : To establish an appropriate work plan that is based on a complete analysis of exiting conditions
